Join us for the Montreal Massacre Memorial on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women.

This year, the event will take place on December 5th, and as in previous years, we will hold it at the Vancouver Public Library – Central Branch from 10:00am – 6:00pm.

One of the event highlights is a lecture by our guest from Ireland, Rachel Moran, author of “Paid for: My journey through prostitution”. Rachel will speak about her personal experience and her fight for abolition in Ireland and worldwide.

Lectures: Legal scholar Christine Boyle on Consent, Journalist Meghan Murphy, on creating platforms for Feminist Analysis, Diane Redsky E.D. of Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre in Winnipeg on Manitoba’s implementation of Canada’s new prostitution laws, Fay Blaney on Male Violence Against Aboriginal Women and Janet Merlo on her class action case against the RCMP for sexual harassment.

Round-table conversations: Women Resisting Male Violence in the Face of Austerity, Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women is a Feminist Issue, Frontline Knowledge and the Public Discourse on Rape and Why Feminism is Crucial to Other Liberation Fights.
